xBerry Ltd. has received co-financing from the European Union for the project titled “Development of an advanced railway crossing monitoring system based on artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions”
The project is being implemented to enhance xBerry’s research and development activities by increasing the competencies of the team and carrying out R&D work focused on developing a product innovation on a national scale. The implementation of this innovation after the project’s completion will strengthen the company’s competitive position in both the Polish and international markets.
The main goal of the project is to conduct research and development work aimed at creating an advanced system for detecting events at railway crossings. This system will monitor crossings for violations and accidents using artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.
The main functionalities will include automatic object recognition (vehicles, trains, etc.), classification, speed estimation, trajectory analysis, and detection of traffic signals at railway crossings. In the event of a detected violation, the system will recognize the vehicle’s license plate and automatically generate a report containing a video recording of the incident with marked detection areas, vehicle images, and textual information (license plate number, time, and location of the incident).
Additionally, the software will feature a graphical interface for generating statistical reports and managing video materials. The end users of the automatic railway crossing event detection system will primarily include institutions responsible for safety and railway infrastructure management. This group may include railway infrastructure operators, public safety services, private companies, local governments, and governmental institutions.
The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the “European Funds for Lower Silesia 2021–2027” program.
