When it comes to air transportation, safety is what matters most. It depends on a thousand little details, procedures, and regulations. When we talk about security for hundreds of people there is no room for human error. That’s why our client needed an extremely accurate, modern, and flawless system that would help air traffic controllers to complete all the small steps involved in the provision of aviation safety. Now there is a system that puts it all together in one place — and makes it even more efficient.

Even though air travel has changed significantly over the last few decades, the safety of crews, staff, and passengers remains at its heart. Complex control systems ensure a smooth experience for the airport’s customers and employees — but they also require constant innovation to keep up with the ever-increasing numbers of travelers and destinations.


These conditions present a unique challenge — coordinating every detail in the small town that modern airports have often become is no small task. Our Chinese partners wanted us to help develop a unique system that would ensure safer air travel for all participants by integrating and automating all the procedures and regulations followed in big, crowded airports. Fortunately, our team is exceptionally well equipped to deal with these kinds of issues.


In cooperation with an international team, we needed to ensure that every single step made in the airport safety zone is monitored and clearly presented to air traffic controllers.

Our main goal was to create a system that would allow controllers to focus on one screen instead of several, presenting thousands of pieces of information about what is going on in the airport.


This would make air traffic supervision easier. The clarity of displayed information and the need to control only one screen significantly reduce the risk of human error. When creating the Airport Control System, we had to ensure that it would be possible to detect potentially dangerous events at the airport, such as making an approach to land on the wrong runway, or the sudden appearance of a vehicle on the airport board area. The system had to simultaneously contact the airport database and compare hundreds of documents and permits issued for given maneuvers within the airport.


This would ensure the automatic detection of dangerous events thanks to the real-time analysis of the situation at the airport and the analysis of plans and permits issued for operations at the airport at a given moment. 

In order to ensure the most accurate and error-free operation of the system, we had to set up hundreds of tests for each of the functionalities.


  • Because of the fact that the safety system is highly complicated and complex but also requires real-time operations, C++ was the obvious choice for this project.

  • Airport Safety System is part of a system prepared for Air Traffic Control Officers. It requires a solid and highly efficient framework that allows for the creation of reliable and responsive HMI. Qt is one of the most popular and best-rated frameworks for creating GUI.

  • Ensuring that the system operates without failure required hundreds of different types of tests for each of the functionalities.


In cooperation with an international team, we designed a state-of-the-art control system based on several high-end technologies. It uses aggregated data from multiple dedicated modules, such as radars, GPS devices, cameras, and optimally placed sensors, to track every object moving through the airport runway.


It assesses risk and controls the situation in real-time to immediately report any occurrence that might increase the chance of an incident. And most importantly — it makes air travel safer for airport staff, crew members, and passengers.
